Google is Big Brother

I remember my first professional job was at a very forward looking television show all about the Internet.  It was 1996 and we were one of the first companies putting video on the web.  I produced a bunch of their videogame content.  I had always used Yahoo search directory until one of the young ladies that worked there introduced me to a plucky new upstart in the search field, Google.   She said she loved this particular search engine because they were so anti-corporate that in their Corporate Philosophy, "Do no evil."

Ah, how the tides have turned my friends.  Don’t be fooled.  These days, Google is not about search as much as they are about surveillance.  This becomes especially poignant as Google has recently announced they are going to store their data centers on floating barges that will not fall under the rubriks of national government.

When you go to Google’s corporate information page no you find the following:

"You can make money without doing evil."

The text that follows is all about the placement of advertising, as if that was the evil we really cared about.  There’s no mention of what they do with all the search information they collect about you, what they do with it, or anything else that has to do with evil in the information age.

I bring this up because Google has done a couple evil things over the past few days.  For example, check out the following news article:

Google search finds seafaring solution

"Google may take its battle for global domination"

When did Google go from not doing any evil to trying to dominate the world?  Oh, I remember now – a 1$ Billion I.P.O.

"The “water-based data centres” would use wave energy to power and cool their computers, reducing Google’s costs. Their offshore status would also mean the company would no longer have to pay property taxes on its data centres, which are sited across the world, including in Britain."

They also wouldn’t be under scrutiny from world governments.  Which are becoming a pesky little problem for the surveillance giant, which leads me to another story about Google.

Debunking Google’s log anonymization propaganda

Did you know that Google stores a file on your computer that tells them EVERYTHING you enter into their search field?  Did you know that they keep that data for 18 months!

This is a little scary considering some of the things most of us Conspiranoids look up, and considering the fact that, as ex-CIA agent, Robert Steele has said:

“I think that Google has made a very important strategic mistake in dealing with the secret elements of the U.S. government – that is a huge mistake and I’m hoping they’ll work their way out of it and basically cut that relationship off,” said the ex-CIA man.

“Google was a little hypocritical when they were refusing to honor a Department of Justice request for information because they were heavily in bed with the Central Intelligence Agency, the office of research and development,” said Steele.

I also bring your attention to this article from Alex Jones.   Who can forget when Google reset the Terrorstorm video-count to 0 to suppress it’s being seen? [note: my COINTELPRO alarm goes off whenever I here Mr. Jones and his HOUR OF HATE - two information control agencies with seemingly disparate aims have often found to be in cahoots behind the scenes]

Google IS Big Brother

With Google now being a corporate megalith who seems to have eschewed their old motto, "We will do no evil" for their shiny new motto, "Screw you privacy, we are out to dominate the world", what can you do?

The answer is simple, don’t use Google.

I know it will be a hard habit to break, but there are free alternatives out there for every service Google offers.

I want to point your attention to Ask.Com.   They used to be Ask Jeeves, but were bought by a company called IAC.  They have a great feature called the Ask Eraser which you can read about here.

You can read about IAC at their Wikipedia page (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IAC_Search_and_Media).

So search carefully my friends, there is no longer any such thing as an anonymous internet.  Google is not the benevolant entity is once was – if it ever really was the benevolant company they said they were – and they are racing at breakneak speed to take over the world, and since we live in an information age, this means they start with information and that means whatever you put into their little search field.
